Oversized Fun for Little Ones

We lucked into this bigger version of First 100 Animals as a gift for my son’s birthday. He’s obsessed with chickens and loves most farm animals, so he’s totally on board. Plus it came with an awesome bonus sticker book tucked into the back pocket.

Even without the sticker book, it remains one of our go-to books for reading currently. Like all Bright Baby books from Priddy, it has real photos and brightly colored backgrounds. Each page offers a different theme, such as farm animals, jungle animals, or polar animals. He likes looking at each one and naming the animals he recognizes.

It doesn’t have any extra sentences or words except the type of animals featured on the page, so it works well for my youngest son to memorize and “read” himself. My older two also enjoy it because they can work on their budding literacy skills by guessing at the words paired with each picture of an animal.

I don’t take this book out of the house due to its size. At about twelve inches square, the big pages flip easily in little hands, but don’t pack well. If you want to take it with you, try the smaller version with the same title, or any of the other First 100 books from Priddy. It measures only about 6 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide and fits into bags and strollers much easier.
