I love the Munchkin Snack Catcher. I lived without them through two kids, so I hardly consider them a necessity. But by the time my third child was born, I made the investment. They cost about $7 for two, so I held off only because I didn’t want more kid stuff cluttering up my kitchen.

I received several snack containers as hand me downs or gifts, so with my first two kids, I made use of them and couldn’t justify the extra ones. At home, our dog took care of any snack mishaps, so the fact that my kids could defeat them and dump everything out didn’t matter. Not until my third child came along did I pick up kids at school and activities and eat more (in other words, daily) in the car and other places where my dog didn’t do the cleaning for me.

I love that these containers’ lids come off easily for adults, making them a cinch to fill. None of my three kids has ever taken the lid off completely, perhaps because they easily stick their hands in and grab food. Even entire crackers fit through the flexible plastic lid that’s sliced like a pizza almost to the edges, allowing all sizes of snacks to come out the flaps when desired, but none to escape otherwise.

Other containers choked on goldfish. They got stuck in the spout and we ended up with frustrated kids and moms, usually while in the car, where I couldn’t immediately do anything about it. Or the openings on other containers allowed my kids to dump the entire contents in their car seats, on the ground, or in the stroller. Containers that didn’t close properly frustrated me most because , they dumped their contents inside my bag instead of into my kids. Those got tossed fast.

The Munchkin Snack Containers clean easily. They go through the dishwasher with no issues and no small parts to lose. Usually I can dump them out and rinse them and they don’t even need to go into the dishwasher, though.

Little hands have no trouble grasping the handles on either side to hold the cup steady while they root around in there for the perfect bit. They come in several different color combinations. The bright colors make them easy to find in crowded bags, and the size means they hold plenty of snack without taking up too much room.

If you’re also sick of cleaning up crumbs or worse, I highly recommend trying these.
