I can’t get enough of fleece pants for my kids. Two of my three kids basically won’t wear anything else because they love them almost as much as I do.

I stumbled into fleece pants when my eldest child was around 15 months old, when he received a pair as a gift to go with a fleece jacket. He loved them so much I bought a second pair. By age three, I bought him nothing but fleece pants.

By the time my youngest came along, I couldn’t justify buying smaller fleece pants, but someone gave us a pair and the light nearly blinded me. Fleece pants resist rain. And all other liquids. Babies urp a lot. And poop their pants. And you can basically brush all of that off fleece with a good quality wipe and keep right on going. I don’t know about you, but our biggest wardrobe malfunctions, especially once we got to child number three and had to leave the house multiple times a day because of the other two kids and their schedules, always happened elsewhere. I carried extra clothes with us, but only because I didn’t own enough fleece pants.

My oldest rarely puts a hole into his fleece pants. I don’t know how or why, but everything else he puts on lasts about five seconds before it looks like we have had a major moth infestation.

He will wear fleece pants year round because they don’t get too sweaty in the heat and they keep him warm in the winter. My youngest now wears fleece pants on ninety degree days because he prefers them to wearing sunscreen. That’s one less thing I need to do before I leave the house, and I’m immune to funny looks from random people because I’m too busy keeping tabs on the locations of three rambunctious kids.

I can only score fleece pants at the end of summer. Now that I’ve learned, I stock up whenever I see any anywhere. I ordered some online one year, and it turns out they were fleece lined sweatpants. Not a total loss, since my kid will deign to put them on at least. But not what I wanted. I can get some from Circo brand at Target, and Old Navy regularly has them in the toddler department. Zutano makes a great pair for infants if you can find them on sale.
