I would never recommend Nerf blasters to anyone. If your kids don’t already own them, stay away from them as long as possible. But after three years of my kids amassing a significant collection of Nerf guns and accessories, I’ve finally found one Nerf product that thrills me: the Nerf Bunkr Combat Carrier Case.

If you haven’t seen a Nerf blaster lately, know that these kid toys shoot styrofoam ammunition. Much like LEGO, once you introduce them to your household, the darts end up everywhere. You can get a wide variety of toy weapons from this brand, and plenty of companies offer generic versions of ammunition and other accessories as well.

This bin can hold multiple blasters and a healthy supply of darts and other accessories.

I don’t love the toys because they only have one use: target practice. While the targets can range from tin cans to cardboard boxes to other people, these plastic toys top my list of the least favorite things my kids own. And we own a lot.

So when my son opened this gift from a friend recently, I sighed when I saw the Nerf logo. But unlike their other products, this Nerf Combat Case  appeals to me for a variety of reasons. For starters, it doesn’t include any actual guns or bullets. It packs up very compactly. And it offers storage as well as play.

The storage bin unfolds much bigger than the original box, as seen here.

Inside the box, you’ll find a folding bin that unpacks to 20 inches (50 cm) by 14 inches (35.5.com). It includes a handle on all four sides for easy access even if you store it under furniture. At six inches (16.5 cm) tall, it fits under beds, some sofas, and other furniture.

Half of the lid flips up, creating a 10 inch (25.4 cm) tall surface. Attach the hook and loop straps to the edge of the lid to keep it in a standing position. Inside, the lid comes printed with three different targets in varying sizes. Each one displays a different number of points inversely relative to the size. For example, the smallest target earns you 75 points.

The case collects darts as kids practice hitting the targets.

Even better, when kids practice at this target, the bullets fall into the box. That helps keep them contained, and kids don’t even have to clean up afterwards. They can toss their guns and anything else into the bin and pack it all away until the next time they want to play.

If you want to delight Nerf lovers and parents alike, check out this storage bin that keeps everything contained and doubles as target practice.
