If you have a kid obsessed with trains or magnetic toys, check out these magnetic train cars and blocks from Brio. We got a set for my third child, and he still loves to sort them and see what will stack and stay put.

The set includes two black train cars with red wheels and nine blocks in various shapes. The blocks come in bright blue, yellow, red, and green colors that appeal to small kids and make them easier to spot in between sofa cushions.

All the pieces included in the set.

Some of the wooden blocks will stack, and some sides of various pieces won’t stick together, so they encourage your child to try different combinations. The shiny paint holds up well to wear and tear and the occasional use as a chew toy, with no concerns about toxic paint. The pieces don’t take up a ton of storage space, unlike track and train sets. The blocks can also be used with any other blocks for stacking and creating without magnetic attachments.

Create endless combinations with the blocks and cars.

The only downside? You can’t tell by looking which sides of the two train cars or blocks are magnetic. My three year old can still get frustrated trying to attach the blocks to an upside down train car. The blocks should either stick to both sides of the car, or there should be some visual indication of top and bottom to help reduce frustrations for grown ups and kids alike.
