Light Up Their World

If you want a stocking stuffer or other small gift for kids, but don’t want to invest in more toys, try a flashlight. I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t love having their own flashlight.
Kids can go through flashlights so quickly. The smaller size means they get lost, and some run out of batteries or come apart and never turn on again. I like these Lifelight types, which require you to push a button to turn on the light.
They come in various animal shapes that appeal to kids without being gender specific. The tough plastic can survive rough conditions, like a trip through the dryer or left out in the cold. Because the light turns off when kids stop pressing the button, the battery lasts longer. You can replace the battery, though it comes in a nonstandard size.

These flashlights work great for travel, as they come with a carabiner on the back to attach to bags, backpacks, suitcases, water bottles, or keychains. Animal shapes include lizards, toucans, frogs, dinosaurs, sharks, dolphins, and orca whales. Kids can collect all of them for a zoo of light up fun.
