- Why: Develop a love for reading
- Where: At home
Looking for an easy way to add more literature to your child’s schedule? Make virtual story times part of your routine without losing your voice or running out of reading material.

Even the youngest child will listen to a story and look at the pictures. Relatives, either near or far, can read over the phone or online. If you need to expand beyond your circle of acquaintances to get more reading material, more voices, or even more time to yourself while your child listens, check your local library. Many have moved their story times online in an effort to keep kids engaged with books even when they can’t attend school or visit the library in person. You can find a selection suited to almost any age group, from babies to elementary age and everything in between.
Some story times offer songs, rhymes, and other activities to make the fun last even longer. And while some can only be viewed live, much like regular story times, you can also look for recorded options to suit your own schedule. Whatever you find, happy reading!
