Want your kid to feel better about their lot in life? Need a little more fantasy after finishing the Narnia books or Harry Potter? Alexandra Bracken brings the torment of the teen years to life with a fantastical spin of witches and demons in The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding.
Prosperity, a twin, belongs to a well-established and generations-long family of overachievers. Yet he has no discernible talents, until he discovers the demon that helped skyrocket his family to success living inside him. With a matter of days to divest himself of the demon, he must learn to find his own place, not only in the world but also amongst his closest family members.

This delightful tale offers lots of twists and turns to keep readers interested. Filled with realistic character motivations, it introduces another hidden world to readers. All three of my kids loved listening to this book out loud, though they often found themselves on the edge of their seat. It makes a great stand alone read for older kids reading lengthier chapters. If your kids love it as much as mine, you can always follow it up with the sequel, The Last Life of Prince Alastor.
Get drawn into the mysteries governing what seems like luck and the darker side of the universe with this tragic tale of growing pains in multiple dimensions.
