We scored a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe secondhand years ago, when my youngest child’s obsession peaked as a toddler. We splurged, even on the used version, as I figured he would outgrow it fairly quickly.
Yet more than three years down the line, I am shocked that all my kids still play with it. Despite being just shy of ten years old, eight, and five, they all love to ride on and in it. I have no idea how they fit, given that my oldest can’t possibly squeeze into such a small space. But somehow he makes it happen. They love to push each other around, which relieves me of the job. I keep thinking we will pass on this toy to another family, and each time I consider it, my kids find new joy in driving it around and around, then around again.

If you want a toy worth the investment, and you have room for little Indy500 drivers, consider investing early in one of these solid plastic cars. The design keeps little kids safe, and lets them choose who’s in control. They can either power themselves a la Fred Flintstone or the handle on the back of the roof makes it easy for parents to provide the push.

While I still might not buy one new because I like to reuse older things, I know now I would’ve gotten my money’s worth and more out of it. These cars come in a much wider variety of colors and designs with multiple fancy features. (Need a horse-drawn carriage where your stead makes noise? Or maybe a car complete with trailer
?) If you need an outdoor toy that doesn’t take up a ton of space (compared to say a pool or trampoline), but still lets kids burn off some energy, consider making your own investment in this cozy little coupe.
