In this fantasy saga, in the first book, The Fire Within, readers meet David, who rents a room from mom and daughter duo Liz and Lucy. Once David moves into their home, strange things start happening. While Liz loves crafting clay dragons, Lucy becomes obsessed with what happens to a local squirrel. Together, the three will learn to trust each other and themselves as they navigate worlds both real and fantastical.
With seven books in the series, kids can enjoy reading at their own pace. With plenty of text, the series follows David on his quest to save the tear of the last dragon and defeat evil in the process. A variety of characters in many forms populates each book in the series, with subsequent novels growing a bit longer each time. These books are best enjoyed in numerical order.
We’ve been reading these books out loud to our kids ages eleven, nine, and seven, and they clamor for more every evening. We’re currently on book three, and the kids can’t get enough of the characters and the action. Whether you’re looking for a good series the whole family can enjoy together, or you’ve got a reader who can’t get enough of fantasy and dragons in particular, you’ll enjoy this collection.
