  • What: MP3 Player for Kids
  • When: Going on family trips
  • Why: Endless entertainment, extremely compact
  • Where: Amazon

Each day we highlight one item we used extensively during our trip, from entertainment to necessities like food and water. Our three kids, at ages 11, 9, and 7, now pack their own travel entertainment bags and their clothes as well. Some items, therefore, were chosen entirely by the kids, while some we packed to make our lives easier.

Have your kids reached elementary school age and you want to start packing lighter for your family trips? If you only pick one thing to keep them entertained, both during the journey and after your arrival, make it an MP3 Player for kids.

Our kids used their MP3 players in the car as well as at the airport and on our flights.

All three of our kids took their MP3 players along on our recent two week journey abroad. I can’t imagine traveling without them. These compact players let kids be in charge while taking up minimal packing space. You have to do some groundwork before taking off to load the devices with music and audiobooks that appeal to your kids. Once you get everything downloaded, you will be set for hours.

Our kids can listen to these players indefinitely. We used them in the airport before boarding, as well as during our flight. They work great in the car without bothering other passengers. And they require minimal reading, making them great for kids prone to motion sickness. In a pinch, they can listen to radio stations as well. The battery lasts long enough to cover use during parts of our ten hour flight, our connection, and our two hour flight, though we carried a charging cable just in case.

At this very reasonable price point, you won’t spend much time worrying about kids losing or breaking them. And they fit into pockets, bags, and almost anywhere with ease. Our kids spend most of their time listening to audiobooks, but have the option of music they’ve selected as well. Each kid has their own player in a bright color, making it easy to tell which one belongs to whom. And for even more options, the kids will share amongst themselves, since each kid has different selections available.

If you want one item to keep kids entertained that won’t break the budget or overload your bags, get them an MP3 player before your next adventure together.
