You can choose from multiple different brands, all with the same concept. The brightly colored fruit comes stuck together with hook and loop closures. Kids can then slice the fruit with a wooden knife. The thick round handle makes it easy for young kids to hold, and the wooden blade gets the job done with zero risk of injury to little fingers. Kids enjoy the magic of slicing the fruit into pieces, and they can do it over and over again.

The sturdy wooden pieces will last for many cutting sessions, and work for a wide variety of ages. Use the set to supplement their other pretend kitchen supplies so they can cook or assemble their own meals. Or get them started with one of these sets, most of which come complete with a wooden tray to hold all the pieces.

We got our set more than ten years ago when our firstborn fell in love with tiny kitchens and accessories. While we finally parted with it last fall, we got many years of solid imaginative play out of it. All three of our kids love to find the matching pieces of fruit, or attach different types of fruit into one. They made smoothies, added slices to sandwiches, cooked pieces in pots and pans, and much more. It also encouraged them to try new foods and recognize items in the produce section at the grocery store.

Open the world of prepping and cooking food to your young child with a durable wooden fruit slicing set.
