These small Japanese-inspired toys first hit the scene back in the late 90’s. In the last year or so, they’ve experienced a dramatic resurgence in our household. Each tiny electronic toy measures a couple inches tall by 1.75 inches wide, and three quarters of an inch deep. It comes with three buttons, usually on a keychain, so kids can attach it to a backpack LINK and take it with them wherever they go. Each one has a digital pet, who needs care to thrive. Feed, clean up after, and play with your pet to watch it evolve and grow. Check stats like age, gender, and weight.
You can get multiple different versions of this popular little toy, including ones with themes like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Hello Kitty. The tiny black and white screen lets this little video pet hatch when kids interact with it. Each toy has multiple variations that could develop depending on the care received.
Two of my kids have become obsessed with these tiny electronic pets, and love to have them and check on them constantly. The small size can make them difficult to keep track of for younger kids, and some versions use up batteries quite quickly. But kids cannot get enough of this basic video pet. The hard plastic case comes in a variety of colors and patterns, so kids can choose which one they like best. It also makes it easy for siblings to keep track of which one belongs to whom.
